When Prom time rolls around, it's hard enough to find the perfect dress for your most memorable night.
That is without having to find one in a larger size!
I remember searching high and low and through
about 100 dresses one year in my quest for the ideal formal dress. Then one day, I found my dream
dress in the Junior's department of my local department store. I quickly grabbed it off the rack and
joyfully fought my way to the dressing room only to find out what I'd know for years. I wasn't a size
13. Each one after that dress was "just ok" because I was able to find a flaw in all of them.
That was, until I found the dress.
There it was, long, powder blue and all alone in a Nordstrom display rack in the Women's department.
Since the section was so small, I never thought to look there; among the cocktail dresses only my
grandmother would wear!
Looking back, I wouldn't have spent even a fraction of the time I had if I
knew about the resources that I'm going to share with all of you. Keep in mind that styles come and
go, and it's probably best to pick something in a more traditional design so that years from now when
you look back, you're not totally laughing at that funky Pucci designed dress and out-there hair.
Read on for some great places and sites to consider when looking for the perfect prom froc.
CybernetPlaza.com - This online formal dress store has some of the cutest designs I've found this
spring and most come in sizes up to 24!!
SimplyDresses.com - Another online great where they have a separate section of plus size dresses
available.
Alfred Angelo - While this design team already had a great catalog and department store presence,
they now offer "Prom Plus" in sizes 16W-32W!
Jessica McClintock - Designs for all prices and sizes, JM has sizes ranging to 28W and almost 200
dresses available to look at online and in boutiques around the country.
David's Bridal - With 125 locations and a fantastic catalog and web site, DB can be one of the most
cost effective and wide-ranging solutions for your prom dress woes. Most dresses are available in
sizes up to 26 and if you look online at www.davidsbridal.com, you can find great deals and coupons!
One of the greatest tricks is to look in bridals stores in addition to your local department stores.
Many carry a wide range of sizes and styles and will order and custom tailor a dress for you!
Get out there and grab a dress and a date and dance the night away! Just remember, as you cut a rug
to thank the one that lead you to your dream dress!!
