Sometimes the perfect find is not to be found on a rack in
some obscure
vintage/thrift store. Sometimes the perfect find is where you
least expect
it: in the depths of your mother's and grandmother's closets
and attics.
There is a whole treasure trove of goodies to be found there.
Simply ask
politely if you may sort through her castaways and have fun.
You may need to
air out clothes and you will almost indefinitely have to wash
them.
The beauty of this method is that girlies with a tight
budget (like me!)
will not have to spend their lunch money to have a new look.
Also, these
clothes have sentimental value; you may unearth the blouse
your grandmother
wore on her first date with your grandfather or the platforms
that your
mother used to wear when she went clubbing. Ask your
grandmother and your
mother about the clothes that you take away. They may have a
history that
will surprise you, and it will be a quality bonding experience
for you both.
